Hey gang, So much has been happening this year I thought I'd give a little update to bring you all up to par. I'm still playing with the classic rock band, Power Play and doing some duo gigs with Jim Jeffrey and Craig Minnette,(Dylan's dad from the Feaver) I played a wedding last week with some great musicians that went over really well and we plan to keep the band together and see what happens. We are planning to record a demo CD and also a couple new originals. Also, look for me in my small screen debut as I play Dr. Paul Katz in the made for TV movie, "Who Killed Chandra Levy," on TLC airing on May 1st. It's quite a small part so don't get too excited but it should be interesting to watch. It was a great experience being on set with all of these real and professional actors and this sad account of Chandra and her family and I recommend that you tune in for this extraordinary account of this tragedy.
My Gigmasterz program that I run with my teaching school at Keyboard Galleria is really doing well as the kids that get involved totally step up and consistently put on excellent performances. The last performance was March 27 at Route 66 restaurant in Canyon Country, which is where we hold all of our shows. It's a great venue where you find, food...fun...and fantastic music! For Gigmasterz, each band has six one hour sessions once a week for six weeks and then put on the concert. It's good for musicians to learn how to play as a band and to learn such things as dynamics, feel and groove and to even branch out and play other instruments that they want to try. I'm hoping to have seven bands for our next session which will be held around the middle of June. The next session should start around April 30.
I've also been very busy with Braeden's band, the Feaver. They have been doing amazingly well this past year. They won the Southern California 98.7 Rock Star competition over about 90 top LA bands. They have been playing regularly at the top clubs on the Sunset Strip such as, The Cat Club, The Key Club and The Roxy. They play the Relay For Life on April 30 in Chatsworth and on May 21 it's the Summer Meltdown concert series in Santa Clarita, that promotes autism awareness. Braeden has written over 100 songs and you can find one on Youtube which was co-written with his bandmate, Dylan Minnette. It's their first official video and the song is called, Bleeding Man. His other bandmates include, Zack Mendenhall on bass and Cole Preston on drums. Also, look for the return of Braeden's show, "Men of a Certain Age," which starts back on Wednesday, June 1st on TNT!
On the homefront, Austin will be graduating in May...."wow'....... and will be attending Antelope Valley College and will be playing baseball for their team, the Marauders! He will be the catcher though he also plays first and third. I see him batting fourth as he has been crushing the ball lately! Michelle is still amazing keeping us all together and making sure we're all fed and clothed. I know we wouldn't be anywhere without her!! Your boys LOVE you!!
